Visitors to Hannibal can walk in Twain’s footsteps and see the places that inspired some of Twain’s most timeless works, including "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" and "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn." The highlight of the museum properties is Mark Twain’s Boyhood Home, a National Historic Landmark and one of the earliest home preservation projects in the country. The museum also includes the home of Laura Hawkins, the little girl that inspired the character of Becky Thatcher; Mark Twain’s father’s Justice of the Peace Office; 15 original Norman Rockwell paintings; a reproduction of the home of Tom Blankenship, Twain’s inspiration for Huckleberry Finn; as well as buildings featuring hands-on exhibits detailing Twain’s life and his impact on the world.
Visitors can tour Mark Twain Cave, Missouri’s oldest show cave and the cave in which Twain played as a youth in Hannibal. Cameron Cave, Missouri’s newest show cave, offers you a different and exciting underground adventure.
